The on-site training course was structured in 5 modules, replicating the structure of the online course. The in-person component deepened the hands-on experience with OERs and innovative teaching methods. The sessions foreseen in the on-site course aimed at reinforcing the online concepts while facilitating collaborative design activities with peers and experts. Morning sessions featured expert-led lectures, demonstrations, and example analyses from UniFi specialists. These presentations showcase real-world applications of each teaching method in various STEM contexts. Afternoon workshops focused on collaborative group work, applying the "4T tools" framework (Persico et al., 2013) to design practical STEM teaching scenarios you can implement in your classroom.

The training focused on Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Educational Practices (OEP) with Artificial Intelligence (AI). Over five days, participants explored methods such as hackathons, active learning, and gamification, applying them to collaboratively develop OER. The pre-test showed moderate knowledge, especially limited understanding of hackathons, while the post-test indicated a significant gain in all areas, demonstrating a clear development of skills. The satisfaction survey reveals very high approval rates, reinforcing the training’s relevance and usefulness. It is concluded that the training week had a positive, impactful effect, empowering participants to incorporate OER, OEP, and AI into their teaching practices and supporting the project's long-term sustainability

The training program brought together lecturers, pre-service teachers and in-service teachers from the South African partner universities with the objective of strengthening the adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Educational Practices (OEP) in STEM Higher Education. The program combined roundtable discussions, collaborative learning activities and an educational hackathon, enabling participants to explore innovative pedagogical approaches such as gamification, active learning and cooperative learning while collaboratively developing the first draft of the Guidelines for the Integration of OER and OEP in STEM Teaching. Through structured group challenges, participants identified pedagogical strategies, quality indicators, implementation mechanisms and practical tools tailored to the South African Higher Education context.
